“Did the dogs ascend the pinned steps on the Wildcat Ridge Trail w/o much difficulty?”

They haven’t done that trail yet. Took a look at a pic of them though – looks like a challenge, but not impossible. Not having done the Skookumchuck Trail, we are guessing that there may be sections that you think are too tough for dogs? We’ve been amazed at how dogs find a way, sometimes with a little help. We would never have thought dogs could get up trails such as Blueberry ledge on Whiteface, but hiked it with a friend and her very large dog a few weeks ago. Worse case is we turn around if we get to a section the dogs can’t handle.

MtnMagic – yes, if we go the “Boys” will be with us, provided there are not people in the group that have a phobia about dogs.

The one response that comes to mind we will share is:

I seem to recall in past years the statement that we welcome flags of all countries be flown as part of this Memrial Hike. Perhaps the author would like to participate on a peak with the flag(s) of his/her choice.

Has anyone checked with the Mooseland Grill to see if these would be accepted at the Post Event Gathering? They could say we are all one party.

                  From the web page:

Limit one (1) gift certificate per redemption. Only one gift certificate can be use per party, even if the party is seated at separate tables and/or receives more than one check.

in reply to: Guy Lines #49831

Our pole is 12 tall – 2 years ago we had the luxury of teh tower on Carrigain – last year on Jackson we used the sign post to steady the base then had guy wires running out in 3 directions from the top and from about 4/5 feet from the top tied off too trees and/or tent stakes. In order to make putting the pole up quick we attached 3 loops of nylon strapping at both spots with a u-bolt, so all we had to do is tie the guy lines to the straps and tie them off. This year we will lower the middle support location to be just under the base of the flag, and may add another 4 foot section to the pole. Some of the pics in the gallery from last year for Mt Jackson show it pretty clearly.

                        I’d call the Ranger Station:

In talking to the owners of the campground we are staying at this weekend in Twin Mountain they made three suggestions.

                          1. The people that own the Mooseland Grill also own a place by the Maplewood Country club in Bethleham. They suggested calling the Mooseland and asking for Dawn (owner)

                          2. Fabian Station across the street from Bretonwood ski area

3 Truants in Woodstock – they apparantly have a large room on the 2nd floor for functions.

Not sure whether we will be staying around Lincoln or Twin Mount (where is the Post Event Gathering??) but will be arriving Fri night and not heading home until Sunday night. Count us in for a hike on Sunday if you don’t mind the company of two very well behaved Goldens.

in reply to: Summit Journal #49694

After hearing of this being done last year on a summit we planned on doing the same this year. Only question on scanning and posting comments would be how to coordinate the scanning process.

I also see a couple of people have siged up for two peaks (Hancocks and Osceolas) Are we sure they are planning on being at both peaks versus having mistakenly signed up for one and then signing up for the one they really wanted. Is there a way to un-sign up for a peak?
