We’d be glad to have others join us on Mt Liberty! Currently we are planning on a 12 pole and 6×10 flag as we have used the past two years, but if others want to assist with the load we’d love to add another 4 feet section to the pole. Part of the fun we get in hiking is meeeting others and sharing experiences. People with well behaved dogs are very welcome as we will have Kinsale and Kerri with us.

We’re going to be away this weekend and will have limited Internet access through dialup. We would like to sign up for a peak again this year – what time do you expect the sign up process to be open?

I believe in another post, driving to the top of Washington to display a flag was mentioned – a great way for the younger folks to join in!

My wife just told me it was covered on WZID this morning and I just checked the WMUR Website and found this:

                        Sept. 13
                        White Mountains
Hikers plan to put American flags atop the 48 peaks taller than 4,000 feet. Flags will fly from noon to 2 p.m. More information at http://www.alpinezone.com.

Perhaps it will be on the Channel 9 news tonight.

Also – a small mention in todays Nashua Telegragh

                          http://www.nashuatelegraph.com/Main.asp?SectionID=25&SubSectionID=354&ArticleID=88799

At the bottom of the article is the following:

On Saturday, hikers will try to put American flags atop the 48 White Mountain peaks taller than 4,000 feet. The tradition began when some hikers posted a flag on Mount Liberty just days after the 2001 attacks. Last year flags were flown all the 4,000-footers on Sept. 14.

How about a small American Flag??? I have a bunch and will bring them – so just look for us, and then grab a flag for your table.

Wow – that’s going to be quite the turnout! Would it be a good idea to contact the establishment and warn them.
