Are these pre-printed name tags? If not, then each participant can write down their real name and screen name.

Also, you may want some blank name tags for the folks who are attending, but did not sign up for a peak. For example, I’m showing up with 2 friends who are not on my peak registration information.

This year I’m using section pipe to a cheap blue tarp I bought for car camping. Each cornor of the tarp is held up by 4 – 3 foot sections of pipe that slide together. I’m going to bring 8 sections so I can adjust the length of the pole accordingly. The best part is the pipe is aluminum and will fit nicely on the side of my pack.

On most of my hikes I have a half gallon of water, liquid soap, face cloth and a towel stashed away in my car. That way I can at least wash the first layer of dirt off before I head to a restaurant for dinner. Oh yeah, I usually keep a full change of clothes in my car too. I always assume I’m going to fall into a river on every hike and will need a dry change of clothes.

A couple of friends of mine are hiking across the Wildcat ridge from Carter Notch with an AMC group. They are well aware of the flags on the 48 so you will definitely not be alone on the summit.

A few weeks ago I hiked 15 miles on the AT in Maine in the pouring rain to bag Saddleback and the Horn. About 4 of those miles were on an open ridge. If I can tolerate those conditions then I’ll have no problem raising a flag on a soggy summit.

I’m day hiking the event with a couple of friends. I planned on base camping at Lafayette place (even had a site reserved), but my wife got scheduled to work that day so now I’ve got to day hike. She’s still bummed she can’t make the hike and I’m bummed I can’t hang out at the Mooseland until late in the evening.

30 day weather forecast: Partly cloudy, 30% chance of a shower, mid 70’s.

100% chance of darkness on Saturday night.

Every extended forecast I see is always the same as above. How can they be wrong? It might rain, it might not. It might be cloudy or it might be sunny? Man, I wish I was a weatherman!

O.K. I’ll admit that I’m the 1 vote for the Woodstock Inn 😳 Either location is fine with me, but could someone fill me in on what type of beer/food the Mooseland Grill has? I’ve never been there and I’d like to enjoy a quality brew  or two after the hike instead of the usual Bud’s and Coors.

Don’t forget Mt. Chocorua. It’s one of the most popular peaks in the whites and should be an honorary 4,000 footer.

Also, you guys may want to consider adding a link from Alpinezone.com to this site. Unless I’m missing something I can’t find a link anywhere.

I got a site at Lafayette campground. Follow the empty growlers from the Woodstock Inn  and the oder of steak being cooked over an open fire and you’ll find me.

pedxing: I’ll be carrying the flag up to Mt. Field with my wife and a friend or two. Let me know if we can be of any assistance. I’m hoping to get an early start (8:00am-ish) so I can spend some time on Avalon before heading up to Field.

Actually, the Moat Mountain I was referring to was Moat Mountain Brewpub and Inn. Great BBQ food! The real Moat Mountains are awesome too. I did the North Moat loop last year on a great day. This year I hiked South and Middle Moat on a cloudy damp day with no views.
