I figure we are all water proof but maybe not lightning proof. Last year standing atop Flume with a 20 foot steel pole, we high-tailed 20 minutes early. No worries – we were there for a full 2 hours and the feeling was GOOD. Rain gear test if necessary this year, but I doubt it will be needed. Have a great hike day.

Y’all know that Dirt and I did Wildcat D on our first real FOT-48 hike. Got the flag, pole and plan together in the space of a week or two and had a GREAT day. You can see the Presis really well from there and there are options for the up and the down. We went by Lost Pond and the Wildcat Ridge Trail – great views of Pinkham.
If you are minimally inclined, this is a good one.

I am pleased to inform you that the “Garfield Fire-Cabin Smoked Porter” has been bottled this week my Dirt and me. We named it thus for the peak we are attending to this year (the foundation on Garfield is from an old fire cabin). We can both attest to its good flavor, though tested before the carbonation is set in.
For those of you who would like to try some, bringing me a few empty Sam Adams bottles with labels peeled off would be a very nice gesture as I am in need of empties at this time.
I expect it will be better that last year’s “Blueberry Flume”, but then we have to try that among friends!
Prost! – ein Toast! See you there … TrekMan

We did not want to fill up the quota of 10 so as to encourage more to come along. So Dirt has a crew of maybe 7 or 8 in addition to those who have officially signed up for the peak. Last year I believe we had a crew of 14 or so at Flume. Kewl!! 8)

I am ready to go and looking forward to a 4th year. Now I need to find out what I need to bring to KOA for dinner!

Wow, I looked through the forums and then called Dirt to see why you had not posted the time and date of signups! Maybe it should be more apparent?!

So all you event planners, I am anxious to hear how you intend us to sign-up for the peaks this year? When will the registration begin? When do we start our engines?
I love when the forums warm up in the spring and the posts get hot and heavy!

It is great to see alll those things, but note that the date is from 2005 … was this supposed to be updated for this year?

Great ideas … was thinking along those lines myself. I would be in favor or either a wicking t-shirt or a cotton polo shirt. The polo shirt would be more useable to wear to work and advertise the event.

                              Brian,
I believe that we saw your flag with binocs from Flume. I am not so familiar with Bond and the cliff and all, but seeing your pics in the gallery I believe it was West Bond. You may not have been able to see Flume’s flag due to wind direction. I was told that our flag was seen from Lincoln without binoculars. We were flying a 6×10.
The early start from Lincoln Woods was for comfoprt – several first-timers, some who did little hiking. Dirt wanted to have some cushion on time – we arrived at the summit at 11:15 all 13 of us together!
                              G’day … TrekMan

remember you invited me to your summer place and gave me the keys ??? 😉

We were in the cabin right there at the corner. I DID NOT get any Blueberry Flume  ,
I think Tom and Laurie did, but I really did not need any more beer as several varieties were delivered by sundry guests…

Anyway, a great weekend for an important Memorial with many great new friends !

                                I have a summer place!!?? Cool! 😆
I tried to get the word around that all were welcome to stop by for the Blueberry Flume … next year I will brew again! Do the word “growler” make your eyes water?
Yes, – Tom and Laurie did stop for a cup of the B.F.

I am with you SherpaJohn – the weather does not matter as much as the thought and remembrance of the lost lives. Reminds me of the 20 years I rode in a Jimmy Fund bike ride, raising thousands of dollars, and every hill or rain storm we rode in was so much less of a sacrifice that those we were in pain or worse. I am a lifer for FOT48 as long as the legs will take me.
P.S. Did I mention that “Wounded-Knee” is my daughter?
