I mentioned this before but, how about rotating the main picture on the flag page to show the many different summits and flagpole designs. Show lots of happy hiking groups and some of the really grand displays of patriotism out there. I’m sure to think of more but I’m having a moderate brain-freeze now…..

I need to add two people to my list. They will also be hiking the Hancocks with us. They hiked Carrigain last year with us and were interested in helping us out this year.

I’d like to add that we do something for Pedxing who was injured in a fire. I believe he particpated in this event both years and since he was a fellow hiker to many of us we should try our best to lift his spirits during his recovery. I’m not sure what to do but it’s something we can discuss.
          Get well soon Dave!

I’ve always done it clockwise. One of these days I’m going to take a left at that little gully beyond the north fork branch and go and check out the Arrow Slide. Plus I’d love to know where that brook goes that just disappears off to the right in that same gully.

Geez Cathie always did say I was a little off kilter….. 🙄

I have a small backpacking tent and won’t take up too much space. I don’t mind sharing a site at all. I’ll go early friday morning and grab some sites and will leave a message at the kiosk if need be.

I’m game for a hike on friday afternoon and even a saturday morning one at that. I have a rather large tarp that we could set up if it rains but the Woodstock Station would be great if the weatherman is against us.
The8re- I would add how many people in your group. Plus it might be a wise idea to nail down a time for everyone to at least meet at the campground and then depending on the weather go from there. I can bring my grill and some firewood as well.

I don’t mind to go Friday morning and grab two or three sites near each other. 2 sites will hold 16 people. That should be enough. Plus, remember some people may come just for the meeting and stay someplace else. Maybe on the signup, say if you don’t mind sharing a site for a night.

Really hard to choose just one answer. You should have allowed multiple answers 😀 . Everyone who takes part always mentions the nice things that strangers say when they discover what we are doing. In my eyes, that is the fuel for this event and it will even be better this years due to the date we are doing it. Plus of course it’s great to be able to put screen names with faces at the post-event gathering. Also seeing old faces and freinds make this event truly unique. And it can only get BETTER……

I can go up as well on friday morning and grab a site or two. As long as we can get a general idea of how many people are going we should not have too much of a problem. Do they have limits on how many tents can occupy a site?

Just curious, will we have a sign-up for who is going to the planning meeting or will it be just whomever shows up.

The8re, the Hancocks are not too tough. The first mile and a half are fairly level along a woods road. The Cedar Brook Trail has many brook crossings which may slow us all down if the water is high. The tough stuff comes about three and a half miles into the hike. As long as the weather is good, I’m sure we will be able have a great time.

That’s a great idea for Flags day. My sister got one of these flags that flew over the Capitol on the same day that our parents became citizens. A really nice gesture. Perhaps we can get one of these flags and make it an honorary flag to fly from a different peak each year.

Either date will be at Hancock Campground. Is this correct? If so, Is anyone interested in doing the Hancocks the next day?

We’ve been lucky the weatherman has been kind to us the last two years. Having a contingency plan would be a good topic to discuss. Is this meeting open to anyone? We met a couple during last years event and kept in touch via e-mail and they would like to participate this year. I think it would be a good idea to have some folks that never took part and get some of their opinions.

Small is good. The idea for the e-mail notice during signup is also good. I think i am just getting ahead of myself.
