The snow is vanishing *fast* here in Vermont! The deck has cleared itself off and there’s so much runoff in the field next door that a small stream has formed.
That said, the storm last weekend made for a perfect finish to ski season up at Sunday River. Black diamonds and mogul fields are now my friends, no longer my enemies. 8)
in reply to: Planning Meeting Weekend? #53341Darn – una_dogger has to work that weekend and I have work-related stuff throughout May, so we wanted to vote for the first weekend in June. If the date’s already set, so be it, I’ll still just be there for the meeting and one night of camping.
You’re not the only victim of a bite valve. I haven’t lost one yet, but I’ve had them get squeezed and drain my water at the worst possible moments.
Including in the back of the car on the drive to the trailhead!
Well done! I’m sorry we were already ensconced in rain, clouds, and hail on Lafayette when you had the flag on the outlook … otherwise I would have had a great photo opportunity.
in reply to: Nashua Telegraph #53149Please do! And I would be happy to scan one.
I noticed the Telegraph offers their front pages in .PDF format already, for a small fee. I will gladly pay that if this cover’s available that way, too.

in reply to: Good Luck… God Speed #53103I’m logging off, finishing loading the car, and hitting the road. I’ll see folks at the KOA or on the summits or both! Good luck, be safe, and never forget this is a memorial and why we remember.

🙂When I had a pole I would I put a pair of eye bolts through, one at the top and one X feet down. Then a simple little carabiner could be used to clip the flag onto the eye.
The catch is then raising the pole with the flag on it, a potential challenge in wind, and also keeping the flag from touching the ground.
