We’ll have about four guys camping at Osceola Vista Campground (WMNF) on both Friday and Saturday nights for this event. A few of us have gray hair. Most have hair. We’ve been part of FOT48 for about 7 years and will be happy to assist Troop 47 in any way (or hang back if that is the preference so as not to distract from the boys’ experience). Feel free to email me at chocorua72@msn.com – Steve H

        Joe,

Can you bring them both (both rigs)? I’ll have extra guys with me. BTW, we’re camping at Passaconaway campground tonight. Look for Ford FLEX.

Looking forward to this hike on Sunday. I’ll be camping at the nearby Passaconaway WMNF Campground on Saturday evening. Feel free to drop by our campfire. It will be the campsite with the silver Ford FLEX.

Thanks for the update and the trail route. I expect to camp out at Passaconay USFS Campground the night before. Anyone else up for getting together the night before, perhaps for a campsite dinner? – Steve

JustJoe, that’s great that you already have a complete rig. You’ve also got an impressive history of past Flags on the 48 events. Let’s hope our honored leader contacts his troops soon so we can plan. I’m hoping that we pursue the peak by Oliverian Brook Trail and Passaconaway Cutoff. That will allow for camping the night before at Passaconaway Campground (also named for the chief).

I too am waiting for our leader, Brenda Firth, to weigh in on this. I have a flag and can start to construct the pole scenario. One option is to use 3/4″ EMT (electrical conduit) with set-screw connectots to make a 20-foot pole. We’ll also need guy lines. Another option is to use shorter conduits, perhaps aluminum, and screw them together with threaded couplings at the summit. In any case, we need to get a route and a plan into place. Brenda?

Brenda, I’d like to accompany your group on this patriotic venture. Last year I was part of the team on Waumbek. I plan on camping at Sugarloaf I on Friday night. – Steve Hern

                    Casey,

How about bringing along some EMT (electrical conduit) with set-screw connectors to create a mast for the flag?

                      Stephen,

How about using EMT (1/2″ or 3/4″) with EMT set-screw connectors to make the mast?
