This summit is organized by the Scouts of Troop 47, Tewksbury, MA. With this in mind we typically follow easier routes as this is often the first NH 4k summited by the youth.
The plan is the hike from Tripoli Road up Mt. Osceola Trail. We are a Boy scout with a 20′ pole set-up we have been using for years.
Probably leaving around 8:30 am.
The Scouts also have a prepared memorial flag raising ceremony that we perform every year which takes about 15 minutes and you are welcome to join us and participate in that. At the end of Ceremony, we have a book you can write your thoughts in and see what others remember from past years.
We’ll have about four guys camping at Osceola Vista Campground (WMNF) on both Friday and Saturday nights for this event. A few of us have gray hair. Most have hair. We’ve been part of FOT48 for about 7 years and will be happy to assist Troop 47 in any way (or hang back if that is the preference so as not to distract from the boys’ experience).
