To reach a majority date. As it stands now, if we went with the currently leader, that would mean picking a date when more people voted for another date.

If we can narrow down the choices, we’ll eventually get a majority vote on one of the dates (theoretically) thus the higher chance that more people can attend.

You might find that by Limiting to the top two choices, the date that was convenient for the most number of people in the first round may not be the most convenient in the second. Assuming our goals is to hone in on a date that works for the most number of people…

Can I suggest we re-poll with the top two (or 4, if the tie still remains), since there were so many options? The same with the location?

Sweet. Did the osceolas… they were my first.

Hmmm… That’s quite a few to choose from. Will have to read up on the trails when I get home.

I’m thinking of knocking off a peak or two earlier in the day. I don’t have my maps with me here at work. What 4k’s are close to Hancock campground? Any trailheads at the campground?

P.S. I’m assuming that it’s Hancock since it’s leading by such a wide margin.

Isn’t the kickoff date June 26 at Hancock campground as decided in our 2 polls?!

              Lots to talk over!

As I understand it, the june 26 date is the planning date. The July 4 date is the official publicity kickoff and the start of signups.

But that, of course, is open to discussion! Should I put it on the agenda? 😆

LOL… my wife has been bugging me to hook up the scanner; I guess it’s time to get a round tuit.

I like a june date myself… better shot for a fair weather hiker like me to squeeze off a peak or 2.

How are the Whites weather-wise in early May? What are the prospects of squeezing off a peak or 2 without the use of crampons that weekend?

                                Just had a thought (ouch!):

A number of people wanted to hike specific peaks because of personal value. Perhaps we could have an early registration whereby those with personal attachments to certain peaks can apply for one before the general first come first served group starts.

These folks will have to write a short description on why they wish to have that certain peak. The result will be 1) These people will most likely commit to their peak as they expressed a personal attachment to it and 2) we’ll have generated some early publicity sources to use throughout the event.

Increased Coordination & Communication – I think the idea of having some sort of increased coordination/communication is a great way to manage people that sign up for a peak but need to back out. As I mentioned in a previous post, had I (or others on the peak I flagged) known that an adjacent peak was not going to be flagged due to a last minute cancel, perhaps we would’ve done things a little differently to get ‘em both covered.

                                  Brian,

I updated the website hourly as the event closed in so that people knew exactly where we stood with the peaks. I’m a big proponent for not cluttering inboxes, so I leave it for the hikers to check the site for more information.

But you did give me an idea of sending out an e-mail to the participants highlight expectations, ideas and encouragements prior to the event.
