Sky says, “I want to say thank you to Greg, SilentCal, Kathy, Wendy,The8er, Frodo and the crew, and say I was so glad to meet those at the Grill – well done!”
She can’t logon right now. So I’m posting her words and a few of mine.

      From me,

Purchase 8″ (for a 2″ or less outside diameter pole) plastic cable ties at you local hardware store. You’ll need only four of them. Lay one tie parallel to the pole at each of the two metal grommet holes in your flag. Wrap another tie over these and lock it tightly around the pole. The parallel ties are then inserted in the flag’s grommet holes and tightened when needed. Note longer cables will be needed with larger than 2″ diameter poles.

Yes, I’ll be in the area and would enjoy a day after hike. Any hike, e-z to the tough side of moderate works for me. Even The Rock Pile.

On the AMC forums, “Flags On The 48” topped 1,000 views!

A few of the finest peaks still need flags. All Nations are most welcome to join.

I just checked the “Flags On The 48” discussion in the mountains and molehill bulliten board on the AMC site. Another complement is the number of pages 4(!) and hits — approaching 1,000!

Purchased one for the incredible low price of .25 for an 8.5′ x 11″ spiral bound at Wal Mart. I paid more than that when I was in school.

You bet! They have a restaurant in one room and a separate room, oddly called the lounge, with a bar and pool table (yes, plenty of chairs, too) for us smelly hikers.
