Special thanks to Iron Workers’ Union Local 7 for providing the Mt Washington team with a Flag.
For two hours this Flag flew higher than all others :flag:

Americans were not the only victims. This was an attack on citizens of the world. It should not be forgotten.

Hope to join you for the hike up. Let me know if I can help carry anything.
Will bring goodies to be named later.

I then took off back for the old summit to find the rest of our group. While trying to maneuver the bushwhack, they were unsure of the route and turned back.

We were actually scouting around to see iff the new “official” summit is really the highest point 😉

Once again I was proud to participate in this event. Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it :flag:

Except, I would completely eliminate the reservation of peaks for Boy Scouts also…

I attended a Boy Scout jamboree in Mass when I was a scout. There were over 200 Troops in attendence. I see the number of peaks taken by scouts increasing each year. If this trend continues a high percentage of peaks could be taken in pre-registration which could frustrate others.

…I think if we ever reach a “tipping” point with the number of people involved, we will need to do something…

                    Peace.

It seems that right now there is a good balance between the number of people signing up and the number of peaks to be covered. As time goes on and more people become interested we may find that peaks fill up. The current system favors those already involved who know that most peaks are taken during the first hours of the sign-up period. This could discourage newcomers who may feel shut out. I think it will be quite a challenge to design a lottery that will encourage new blood while being fair to those who have already given time and effort to this event.

What is the scope attached to? I may want to stay below the trees 😮

I see this event as a tribute to the victims. Many were simply innocent bystanders, and some were heroes who chose to risk their lives in order to save others. To me the flag is a symbol of what makes this the greatest country in the world. I look at the American flag and see a land where opportunities are available to all, and all can come and go as they please.

                          :flag: God Bless America :flag:
