Wow – we were very suprised to see our site at the top of the list. That’s great that we are helping to spread the word.

We received an email today from someone who was on Mt Liberty last year. He is a retired member of the armed services and just wanted to say thank you for our participation in the event. He asked that we do not share his comments, but I can share the fact that it reminded us once again how much it means to people to see this act of patriotic spirit as we raise Old Glory on the mountain tops. :flag:

Glad to hear that everyone enjoyed the campground – it’s one of our favorites in the Whites. Sorry we couldn’t be there to participate and see everyone – damm work trips :<

See everyone on the trails this Summer :flag:

Why US Postal mail instead of email? Since the only way to sign up is via Internet why not make it easy? I’d be more apt to go into details via an email versus a hand written form.

Stephen – I re-read the thread and did not see any mention to the Post Eveent Gathering.

I agree with SilentCal that most people may want to drive home afterwards this year. Maybe a Sat night event at a campground – a large cookout wehre people bring there own food and beverage. Something else to discuss at the planning meeting.

We will be hiking (weather permitting)Sat and Sun. Open to just about anything.

Steve – from your list others in the area you might consider:

                Hancocks
                Moosilauke
                Kinsmans
                Cannon
                Cannon Balls (NEHH)
                Scar Ridge (NEHH)
                Wolf (NEHH)

                All are fun hikes.

More Feedback – Although not offering the multi choice of food that a resturant would have – it would be nice to have a large room to ourselves so everyone could mingle better. Pizza would be fine with us as well. Work with them to keep the price down for the meals – they will make up for it in beer sales.

Just be sure they understand that people will be arriving over a large time frame and want food when they arrive, versus a sit down dinner.

I heard back from the Broken Branch Campground today. The response indicated they would be glad to have us and give us the group rate.

                          Hey MtnMagic

“The owners of the campground are going ask us to send our non-profit tax id #. Since we don’t have one the rates will be $28-$31 for 2.”

Have you contacted them on this and know this for fact or is this just your guess? I have stayed there many times and have found the owners to be very accomidating. I am planning on contacting them if you have not.

“State c.g. are in the $16-$18 range w/up to 8 to split the site cost. Anyplace is cool to me, particularly one that has showers.”

Are there State campgrounds that have showers?

Besides agreeing on a campground – an agenda that allows people to partcipate who prefer the comfy accomidations of motels would be a good idea. Some hikers are wimps :> :flag:

Umm – Pucknuts – No hookups at Moose Brook campground means that there are no electric, water and sewer connections for RV’s :>

Early June a lot of the private campgrounds with full services would probably be willing to give a group discount. Broken Branch KOA in Woodstock has a group rate of $9 per person for non-profit groups – we’d probably qualify there – they are very friendly and the campground very clean with warm bathrooms and showers.
