My son and I will be coming up from CT. Planning on getting to the trailhead around 7 – 7:15.

That’ll let us stagger start, and should give us some extra time. My son is 11, and the second half of Liberty Springs will be his toughest climb yet. And I’m not exactly fast, so the extra time will help.

Happy to help hoist the rig at the summit. I also will have my flag that’s flown on multiple other peaks — doesn’t need to go up a pole or anything, a group shot holding it up would be great. I just like the continuity of it being on each peak I’ve done.

I’ll be a bearded dude in a battered Cabelas cap with a young kid in a grey cap. If we can find our small flags, we’ll attach em to our packs, always mean to do that.

Hoping for great weather. Feel free to reach out via email for any reason — phagan55@gmail.com

      Thanks,
      Padraic

Hi, I’ll be in a faded green Cabela’s hat with a black/woodland camo pack (with a flagpole sticking out!), and I’ll be with my 9yr old son.

        Look forward to meeting up!

          Craig,

Great, I will dust off the rig and get it ready to go.

          Fingers crossed for good weather.

          Best,
          Padraic

Hi, route plan looks great. I like the meetup point and time to allow folks to filter in at their own pace, then finish as a group.

I haven’t done Peirce before, so it will be nice to see something new.

I also have a rig based off of a collapsible plot setup from Amazon, with additional guylines and support, as well as a 4×6 flag, which has flown on Jefferson and Tecumseh. More than happy to bring each if a backup is wanted. If not needed, equally happy to lug up snacks, drinks, etc.

My son and I will be coming up from CT, so an early morning and long drive. I may have another person or two with as well.

If there’s any support or logistics or anything I can help with, please don’t hesitate to ask. I’ll check this forum, and I can be reached via email at phagan55@gmail.com, or by phone/text at 860-315-4081.

Hey all, just checking in with less than a week left.

Rig is tested, adding some heft anticipating wind on the summit.

North Shore group — do any of you guys have (or mind picking up) an extra flag? We have a good 4’x6′, but want to have an extra on the mountain just in case — 2 is 1, 1 is none.

With 10+, anticipating a few subgroups breaking out. Figured we’d disperse the rig amongst the “fast group.” Setup “should* be fast and easy (potentially jinxing us all, I know!)

Our CT crew is planning on grabbing a local hotel Fri night, happy to meet up for local beers if it makes logistical sense. My (Padraic) # for contact is 860-315-4081 and email is phagan55@gmail.com. I get shit signal up in the Whites, will also forward an alternate contact.

5 days… looking forward to this, gonna be a great event. All thoughts towards good weather!

Hey, thanks for checking in. Good that you’re a group as well, should make coordinating a little easier.

Definitely think it makes sense to route that way. Good sense to follow last year’s group, and was reading up this morning on the Jefferson routes, and the Caps Ridge is the shortest by a big margin.

So, plan for now is 9/8/2018 at 8:00 am here: Google Maps link to trailhead

Note that parking at the trail head likely requires a permit:

A parking permit is required to park at White Mountain National Forest trailheads and parking areas. You can purchase a WMNF permit from the forest service and other vendors and can also pay-by-the-day using self-service kiosks located in many parking areas.

For more information on parking passes please refer to the White Mountain National Forest website.

                Rates:
                $3 per day
                $5 for a week-long pass
                $20 for a year-long pass
$25 for two year-long passes (one household/two cars)

We’ll make sure to do a dry run with the setup before the actual event, and will reach out if any other equipment needs pop up.
