Silentcal is the only French Canadian I have ever seen who is afraid of the cold. 😛

ENjoy your peak everyone, we will wave hello from Lafayette!

Team B&B members Bri and Jen are ready for year number 2! 😀

Are you open to the suggestion of Greenleaf Trail…..been looking forward to doing it all year, and this is a good enough reason to give it a go 😉 .

I attended the meeting and was a tad disappointed in the turn-out. Perhaps weather related?

Remember what this is about folks… there’s 3,000+ individuals who don’t feel the rain or hear the thunder anymore. :flag:

Hey, as long as the event itself is packed full of participants, then all is good!

Id like to add my .02 cents to the issue as well, Chris, since Jim and I have talked about this exact subject before. The way I see it the FOT48 is a memorial hike and is done in a respectful way. Expanding past the 48 peaks, I fear, would take the event from a memorial hike into a, for lack of better wording, circus stunt. I think the Steering comitee has done right by currently keeping it Flags on the 48. And as you say, it may change in the future. For now I don’t think anyone can argue this event needs something more to spice it up…..its hot hot hot!

Maybe, just maybe, this will be the first year with no tarps!

I promise…I really do……NO RAIN this year. None for the planning weekend, none for the event! I have cast away my evil waterfilled ways and announce the year of 2007 to be the best weather year one has ever seen with rain falling ONLY during the weekdays while we are all safely snugged away at work 😆 😉 :flag:

Yeah, we can’t do it on Mother’s Day weekend. Looks like it will have to be the 19th.

Jim and I have a trail adoption seminar we MUST attend on that day. 😳

The Mud will come soon enough, and then, the annual rebirth of the lady-of-the-dirt shall come upon us!!!! 😆

Perhaps set up a couple of people for the express purpose of being back-ups, just in case. I know last year there was some last minute cancellations that were thankfully filled, and can only assuem it has happened before. This way there is no scrambling at the last minute and the back-ups can have poles and flags ready to go with very few problems.

From the looks of it, Brownie, you can expect the full team back again next year! Jen and I are sooooo in, Quint and Diane are most likely a lock, and Im sure Doug will be happily joining….now we just gotta worry about that shifty guy Tom 😆 😉 .

My spotting scope, and a couple of pairs of binocs spotted the flag over Owls Head. It was tough because, from our angle, it was hugging real tight to tree top level. But if you held on the high point of the mountain long enough you could glance the flash of red as she fluttered in the wind.

                          Good job team Owls Head!

Brownie….the set-up, the flag, everything was simply AMAZING! Good job to you and my fellow team members.

Looking forward to next years event!

Hey Amberlin, Glad to see you folks on the Franconia Ridge made it through Ok. Like I said, from where we were it looks like you folks got hit with some nasty stuff.

                                Hey guys,

Sounds like you had yourself quite a little crowd up there. I was wondering how the Presidential range fared today. We watched on Garfield as a nasty cloud wrapped itself around Lafayette, and then the whole Franconia ridge started getting hammered soon after it. Glad to hear you guys made out better than those poor souls!
