Troop 131 had a great time at this event. Thanks to the organizers for giving us the opportunity to participate.

First… Pictures are up in the galery from our hike.

We started out at about 9:30am from the Waterville Valley parking lot. A little late, which would prove important later. The weather was fantastic, and we were looking forward to the climb, and woried about some of our younger boys (“little did we know which boys would have problems”)

As we got going, the hike lulled all of us into a very pleasant mood. We moved along well, and climbed steadily.

We crossed the brook, and climbed the steps/errosion bariers, and got to the Ski Trail. Then we looked up, and got a little worried… but we said “no problem, it can’t be too far”. The boys started out like billy goats, moving from rock to rock…

The “old” boys (can you say scoutmasters) started to get a bit fatigued. Within an hour, the boys were 100 yards ahead, with most of the old dudes lagging far behind.

We made it up in about 3 hours total. Tired but satisfied. The flag went up great, though we were worried at first about a pronounced bend in the pole once it was erected.

We had a great lunch, and some of us took a nap. Flag down at 2pm, and a 2 hour hike back down. The boys had a great time, and so did we adults. We’re looking forward to doing this again next year!

Glad to see that everything worked out Vernon! We surely do hope to see the scout groups again next year!
