The hike up North Twin (4,761’) via the North Twin Trail is described in the AMC guide as moderate with a number of river crossings that can be difficult in high water. The summit of North Twin is densely wooded but a ledge on the west side will provide us good views. The hike up is 4.3 miles with an elevation gain of about 3,000 feet and it will take us approximately 3 1/2 hours to reach the summit. We would meet around 8:00 AM at the trail head (parking lot) located on Haystack Road off US 3. From the south you would take route 93 north through Franconia Notch to US 3. This should be a fun hike and you will be able to hike at your own pace.
