With some trepidation due to the weather forecast of strong thunder storms which were due around mid-morning, the 2016 Flags on the 48 Mt. Passaconaway team of ten enthusiastic hikers left the trailhead at 8:35 AM. JustJoes Never Forget flag, American Flag and pole rigging were divided amongst the team for transport to the summit. We made good progress on the trail to the summit after weathering the thunder and downpours. We arrived just before noontime and quickly raised Joe’s pole rigging and both flags to clearing skies and windy conditions. Soon thereafter we were greeted by our friends executing their summit flyby. It was a very proud and emotional moment for all. There were only a couple of visitors to the summit due to the weather delaying hiking start times for some. At the close of the flag flying time we left the summit and safely arrived back to the trailhead.
I would like to thank team members Celina, Joe, Lois, Mark, Mark, Matt, Rob, Steven, and Walter for their support under less than desirable conditions.
The team would like to once again thank our supportive fellow hikers for the delicious homemade chocolate cookies. They were much appreciated.
