      Hello All!

      Next weekend is fast approaching and I for one am looking forward to a terrific hiking day. Details below regarding the hike, meeting point, time, route, etc. If you have any questions, please contact Bill Schaare (# listed below).

      Lots of gear to split up at the meet point before we hit the trail. We have a 30′ flag pole in several sections, 3 flags, anchor ropes, etc.

      2013 Flags Hike: directions for Carter Dome

      Meeting point: Nineteen Mile Brook Trailhead, NH Rt. 16.

      Meeting time: 7:30 AM.

      The Nineteen Mile Brook trailhead is on the right-hand side of Rt. 16, going north on Rt. 16 from the junction of Rt. 302/16 in Glen.

      Driving: Go up RT.16, thru Pinkham Notch, past the AMC Pinkham Notch Center (on your left), then past Wildcat ski area (on your right). Then, about 1 mile beyond the Mt. Washington auto road entrance (on your left), you will come to the trailhead on the right-hand side.

      Hike Route Summary:
      Start at Nineteen Mile Brook Trailhead and go 1.9 miles to the junction with Carter Dome Trail. (1hr., 25 min.)
      At the junction, take the left-hand fork onto the Carter Dome Trail.
      Follow the Carter Dome Trail 1.9 miles to the junction with the Carter-Moriah Trail at Zeta Pass. (1hr., 45 min.)
      At this junction, go RIGHT on the Carter-Moriah Trail (here the Carter Dome Trail & the Carter-Moriah Trail coincide for 0.2 miles)
      Continue for the 0.2 miles, then DO NOT bear left for Mt. Hight, but keep RIGHT on the Carter Dome Trail to bypass Mt. Hight. Continue on the Carter Dome Trail, pass the Black Angel Trail junction, and climb to the summit of Carter Dome. (1.0 miles).
      Carter Dome summit is a large open area, typically with a lot of hiker traffic.
