Might be a good idea for somebody to actually drive down 302 from Crawford Notch and check it out just in case the DOT person was confused on the location. At the intersection of 3 and 302 the sign says it is open for 19 miles, shich would appear to be to the bridge.

Might also be worth checking with the Notchland Inn to see if they might be willing to let you park there and shuttle you the 2 miles to the road.

It was scouted today and DOT said that the road on the west side of the bridge is “closed.” Since we’ll be starting early in the morning, I don’t want to run the risk of the road being roadblocked at the official end of the open section, Willey House Station.

Just trying to help Jeremy – we have been past the Wiley house ourselves – the road is not closed, just restricted for local travel. They have a truck at the top of the notch by the parking area for Jackson to let people know they can’t go all the way to Bartlett, but let cars through. We know others that were down all the way to the bridge that is out – large groups of folks that were down there swimming.

For anybody that is reading this site and not others. The 511NH site has been updated this morning showing that access to Sawyer River Road from the West (Twin Mountain) is open!

Per the 511NH update, we have moved the start time to 7 AM, at the Sawyer River Road winter parking lot, accessible from the west (Highland Center) side of US 302.

For those coming from the east (Bartlett), please allow yourself additional time to do a short road walk to the winter lot at the end of Sawyer River Road.
