      *** Confirmation 48 out of 48. 8:32am Sunday Morning.****
      Seeing all of the efforts everyone made yesterday under some not so great weather conditions truly shows how this hiking community “gets it”. I estimate about 500 people took to the mountains to make this event happen and I would like to thank each and everyone of you for it. Friday and it looks like today will be ideal weather days for Flags but this group showed yesterday that it has heart, courage and unity. Our gear may be drenched, our flagpoles may need repairs, our flags may be frayed but the spirit of this event is not going anywhere. Just like the Star Spangled Banner says, “rockets red glare, the bombs bursting in air, gave proof through the nigh that our flag was still there” .

      Thank you all from the Steering Committee. It was a privilege and honor to hike with you all.

        We were delighted to finally participate in the programme after first learning about it in 2015. We shall never forget the events of 9/11/2001 and offer this prayer in remembrance of the innocents who lost their lives: “Eternal rest grant unto them, oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. Though they passed in turbulence, may they rest in peace”. And to the other hiking teams who braved the elements with us, may God bless and keep you safe. Until next year . . .
