Brian, Jay, Adam and myself were one of the groups on Lafayette. We hiked up the old Bridle path in pretty good time. At least I thought it was good time. Upon arriving at the hut, We met up with Brian Murray’s group and chatted a bit of past flags events. It is always nice to put a face to a name that you have seen for many years. With such a nice day, we wer so anxious to get to the summit, we forgot Jay in the bathroom. He caught up quickly. Summit had a small group of folks on it already who were just taking in the views. Both crews got their flags up around 11:30 and there was much picture taking. Around 12:00, We began our search for other flags. Lincoln was sticking out like a sore thumb and could be seen with a naked eye. Garfield was also visible with a naked eye. With binoculars, we could see North and South Kinsman, Galehead, North and South Twin, west Bond, Bondcliff, and Liberty. Pretty sweet! A couple gliders did zoom by and we could hear some f-15’s from time to time but they were camera shy. The hike down was slow going due to the amount of hikers on the trail. Wow. What a day.
